We are sad to announce that on February 6, 2024, at the age of 85, Shelma Welch Trahan of Starks, Louisiana, born in Dequincy, Louisiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Dick Gibson and Mattie Gibson; her husbands, Eldon Welch and Ernest Trahan; her siblings, Norman, Bert, Tippy, C. J. Gibson, Mable Bass, Louise Gaskins and Evelyn Montgomery; and her grandson Kent Welch.

She is survived by: her children, Eldon "Bubba" Welch (Shelia) of Starks, Keith Trahan (Jenny) of Baton Rouge, Donna Simon (Geno) of Starks, Janie Hyatt (Alvin) of Highlands, TX, Lisa Bowers (Dutch) of Starks, Mattie Graham (Cecil) of Vidor, TX and Deedra Welch (Ronald) of Starks; her siblings, Sharon "Rooney" Hagar of Starks, David Gibson (LaDonna) of Starks and Larry Gibson of Deweyville, TX; and her sister-in-law Brenda Gibson of Starks. She is also survived by many grandchildren, several great grandchildren.
