He is survived by: his wife Betty Hyatt Smith; his children, Alisa Smith Rainwater of Starks, Tammy Smith Phillips (Michael) of Vinton and Donnie Smith of Starks; his grandchildren, Kelsey Johnston (Drew), Baleigh Cooper (Derrick), Dylan Smith, Cade Rainwater, Hannah Smith and Rayleigh Smith; and his siblings, Ronnie Smith of Newton and Cathy Greer (James) of Starks. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
