He was loved and cherished by many people including: his friend Iris Patterson; his sister Nell of McLeod, TX; his wife Iris; and his children, Pam Bayuk (Jim) of Farmersville, TX, Pat, Devin (Dana), Kevin (Melissa) of Rinneyville, KY, Randy (Tina) and Brad of Dallas, TX. He was also cherished by 11 great-grandchildren.
The one source he always went back to even quoting 30, 40, even 50 scriptures in a single sermon Although there were fewer trips to the pulpit in the waning years of the last decade, it wasn't until his body was giving out that he chose to step down coupled with a pandemic forcing Garland and so many of his generation into their homes to stay.
