He is survived by: his son Douglas E. Gillis (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Cristelle Ellison Gillis, Marissa Wood (Chase) and Douglas Gillis Jr.; his brother Greg Gillis; his niece Lynn Cullom; his former wife Cindy Cadis Gillis; his stepdaughters, Renee Killen Krutsick (Jack), Jennifer Hopkins George (Jeff) and Amy Beth Piccinino (Rob); and his pet Scottie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to a charity supporting animal welfare would honor his passion for nature and animals.
