It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Freida Maxine Johnston (Simmesport, Louisiana), who passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her children, Blake Bordelon, Lawrence Bonnette and Jane Sherman; her former husband Edgar Bordelon; her husband Lonnie B. "L. B." Johnston, Jr.; her parents, Mack Barr and Onelia Bonnette Barr; and her siblings, Joe Barr, Carlton Barr, Huey Barr, Johnny Barr, Creff Barr, Elodie Whitehead, Estella Louis and Kate Barr.
She is survived by: her children, Hugh Bordelon, Taharka Johnston (Mary), Maria Deville (Dale) and Joyce Ann Bordelon; and her sister Joyce Bertrand. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
