He is survived by: his spouse Jean Thomas; his children, Ricky Thomas (Stacey), Susan Whited, Robert Thomas, Jr, Douglas "Duke" Thomas (Cecilia), Sheila Jones (Richard) and Roger Vance Thomas, Sr.; his sisters, Dottie Greene (Gary) and Pamela Cage; and his close friends, James Blythe (Helen) and Sheffie Fabre (Betty). He is also survived by 42 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
