It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Leon McIlwain (Shreveport, Louisiana), who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though Richard Leon may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Richard Leon touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Rozier McIlwain and Louise McIlwain; his wife Linda; and his daughter Diana Duncan (Chris). He is survived by: his sisters, Reta Hunt (Kenneth) and Mary Haire (Huey); and his grandchildren, Devin and Drew.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the FBC Homer Family Life Building (406 W Main St, Homer, LA 71040). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Arlington Cemetery of Homer (380 LA-146, Homer, LA 71040).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rose Park Baptist Church Children's Ministry, 5560 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71129, or the charity of choice.
