It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Carolyn Sawyer of Shreveport, Louisiana, born in Homer, Louisiana, who passed away on August 8, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Upton and Ellis Smith, Sr.; her siblings, Camille and Ellis Smith, Jr.; and her half-siblings, Jason, Angelo Smith and Christelle Ash.
She is survived by: her children, Jay Sawyer (Laura), Melody Ballew (Jeff) and Brad Sawyer (Jane); her grandchildren, Kent Sawyer (Elissa), Taylor Sawyer (Lake), Sawyer Ballew (Yami), Leslie White (Trenton) and Caroline Sawyer; her great grandchildren, Daring Ballew and Lucas Ballew; and her sister Letitia Adkins. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
