He was predeceased by: his parents, O. C. Sanders and Elizabeth Sanders; his sister Beth; and his brother-in-law Tommy Powell of Shreveport. He is survived by: his wife Dicksey Gerlach Sanders of Shreveport, LA; his children, James Edwin Sanders Jr. of Shreveport, Susan Sanders Magner (Mark) of Houston, TX, Meredith Brown Melancon (David) of Alexandria, LA and Mitchell Brown (Stephanie Svanfeldt) of Edmonds, WA; his grandchildren, Grant Magner (Mandi) of Houston, TX, Casey Magner (Kaytlynn) of Houston, TX, Larsen Sanders, Eleanor Virginia Melancon of Alexandria, LA, Louisa River and Fredrik Huckleberry Brownfeldt of Edmonds, WA; and his great grandchildren, Blair, Lucy, Kennedy and Molly James Magner of Houston, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Nw Louisiana Veterans Cemetery (7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, LA 71047). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at 578 Waterford Dr, Shreveport, LA 71106.
