He is survived by: his wife Bettie; his children, Michelle Shores (Todd) and Vernon Hastings III (Amy); his grandchildren, Clayton Shores, Mary-Stewart Shores, Cole Hastings and Michaelann Hastings; his sister Verna Robertson (Douglas); and his nieces and nephews, Trent Robertson, Keon Robertson, Drew Robertson and Chase Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Jewell House in Shreveport, Louisiana or St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Shreveport, Louisiana.
