She was predeceased by: her father Ferdinand Porter; her husband Samuel Brown; her mother Etta Porter; her son Warren Brown; her sister Willie Mae Washington; her granddaughter Cierra Brown; her brother-in-law Huey Washington; her aunt Georgia Johnson; her uncle Benjamin Johnson; her cousins, Morris Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Jr. and George Johnson; and her uncle Willie Porter.

She is survived by: her children, Belinda B. Spears, Deidra D. Joseph of Baton Rouge, Terri B. Gage of Grosse Tete, Louisiana, Michael Brown, Gregory Porter (Dartaula) of Baton Rouge and Anthony Brown (Veronica) of Kennesaw, Georgia; her cousin Albert Johnson (Rita); and her niece Jacqueline Washington. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
