With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donald Gene Hammons in Shreveport, Louisiana, born in Sikes, Louisiana, who passed away on October 26, 2024 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Ann Ogburn Hammons; his parents, Elvin Jackson and Lela Mae Bustin Hammons; and his brother Lyndon Hammons. He is survived by: his children, David Wayne Hammons (Joan Stovall Hammons) and Donna Lynette Hammons Areno (John Paul Areno, IV); and his grandchildren, Michael Hammons, James Hammons, Lydia Hammons, John Areno (Morgan), Zachary Areno, Alec Areno and Audrey Areno. He is also survived by other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home (701 Jackson St, Alexandria, LA 71301). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers (701 Jackson St, Alexandria, LA 71301).
