He is survived by: his daughter Linda Jackson Johnston; his grandsons, William "Bill" R. Johnston, III (Colleen) and Benjamin J. Johnston; his great grandchildren, William Johnston and Russ Jones (Kimbre); and his great great grandchildren, Tayten Jones and Tucker Grace Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
