He was predeceased by: his mother Eula Brian Slaton; his wife Stella Benefield Slaton; his siblings, Joel Slaton, Aubrey Slaton Jessie Slaton, Hershel Slaton and Evelyn Slaton Graham; and his grandson Jeremy Haughton.
He is survived by: his children, Louise Haughton (Ricky), Jo Ann Hennigan (Todd), Bobby Slaton (Jo) and Jerry Slaton (Laura). He is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
