Verrette of Scott, Louisiana, born in Mamou, Louisiana, who passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Claythis Verrette and Duna Verrette; his sister Faye V. Blanchard (Judy V. Barbier); his siblings-in-law, Mary B. Verrette, Enez Verrette, Donald Menard and Wayne Hebert; his goddaughter Pamela "Penny" Gary; and his parents-in-law, Early Lantier and Mildred Sonnier Doucet (Joseph).

He is survived by: his wife Jan Lantier Verrette; his children, Jonas Verrette (Amelia), Christy Verrette Benzarti (Benz), Stephanie Verrette Potier and Lacie Prejean; his grandchildren, Caleb Polk (Brie), Alex Polk, Mary Esther Leblanc, Kennedi Comeaux, Khye Comeaux, Landon Prejean and Carver Mire; his great grandchildren, Iyla Guilbeaux, Huxtyn Prejean and Hayes Prejean; his brothers, Robert Verrette, Sr. and Lester Verrette; his sisters-in-law, Judy L. Menard and Karen Hebert (Horace); his godchildren, John Blanchard, Jr. and Shelby H. Menard (Blaine); and his niece Katie H. Kidder (Erick). He is also survived by "Papa", John was adored by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces &nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial and honoraria giving be made to The Calcutta House and Hospice of Acadiana.
