It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Joseph Bertrand Sr. of Saint Martinville, Louisiana, who passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephan Bertrand and Mathilde Chatagnier Bertrand; his wife Grace Granger Bertrand; and his siblings, Larry Bertrand, Sr. and Helen Bertrand Halphen (Conrad).
He is survived by: his children, Mel, Jr. (Lisa), Kenny (Lynn) and Pam (Kendall); his grandchildren, Cody (Danielle), Kristen (John), Kayley (Chase), Bailey, Blake Bertrand, Kiley Serrette (Marvin), Treavor (Randi) and Logan Romero (Cameron); his great grandchildren, Emeri, Brec Serrette and Braxton Dore; and his siblings-in-law, Patsy Bertrand, Mary Francis Borel, Doris Granger and Clifton Borel.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 8:00 AM to 1:15 PM at the Pellerin Funeral Home - St. Martinville (112 N New Market St, St Martinville, LA 70582). A rosary was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church - Coteau Holmes (1006 St Elizabeth St, St Martinville, LA 70582). A burial was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery - Coteau Holmes (1006 St Elizabeth St, St Martinville, LA 70582).
