He was predeceased by: his son John Thomas Hayes; his parents, Joseph Hayes and Lucille Matthews Hayes; and his stepson Barlow James Dupuis. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Dupre Hayes; his daughter-in-law Lacie Broussard; his brother Patrick Darron Hayes; and his grandchildren, Sullivan Hayes, Reece Hayes and Layne Schlabach.
