He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris Landry Merrell and Marvin Lofton Merrell, Sr.; and his grandson Caleb Alexander Andrus. He is survived by: his wife Jencie Delores Patin Merrell of St. Landry; his children, Nolan Patin (Becky) of St. Landry, Erwin Patin (Cindy) of Bayou Chicot, Gwen Slocum (Bobby) of Amite, Bobby Higdon (Bonnie) of Bayou Chicot and Courtney Fontenot (Cody) of St. Landry; and his siblings, Marvin Merrell, Jr. (Amy) of St. Landry, Peggy Sue Williams (Alan) of Marksville, Prentiss Merrell (Linda) of Ville Platte and Bobby Ray Merrell of St. Landry. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
