He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer McConnell and Zell Lora Secrest McConnell; and his siblings, Betty Foster and Jimmy McConnell. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie F. McConnell; his children, Linda Harwell, Terry McConnell (Michelle) and Toni Miller; his grandchildren, Jim Sanderson, Bonye Sanderson, Maddy Harwell, Angelle McConnell, Quenton McConnell, Allen Perritt, Adam Perritt and Alex Perritt; his great grandchildren, Izzy Kimble, Rhett Perritt and Jace Perritt; and his siblings, Jerry McConnell (Suzette), Karen Shaw and Sharon Arnold (Ladell). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
