She was predeceased by: her daughter Kenyatta R. Charles; her siblings, Edward Broden, Jr. (Tippy), Melvin Broden, Kevin Edwards, Jacqueline Broden and Willow Mae Broden; and her nephew Shondell Broden.
She is survived by: her husband Herman Charles, Sr.; and her children, Desiree C. Oubre, Eleria E. Charles, Kiandra K. Charles, Herman Charles, Jr. and Antonio (Ronnie). She is also survived by four sisters, three brothers, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
