He is survived by: his wife Rosie Jackson Monroe of Baton Rouge; his children, Cynthia Scott, Sosthan Monroe, Jr, Brian Monroe (Stella) of St Gabriel and Desmond Monroe (Ricketta) of Baker; his grandchildren, Leekeisha Batiste (Joanas), Dominec, Brittani, Samuel and Desmond Monroe, II; his great grandchildren, Troy Dunn, Justin, Khaleb and Taylor Batiste; his siblings, Caroline Smith, Viola Holmes, Hilda Washington, Juanita Holmes of Oakland, Soladan Valentine (Spencer), Vaughn Monroe (Dorothy) and Carl Monroe (Vanessa); his uncle Henderson Woodson of St Gabriel; and also Monroe Scott.
