He is survived by: his wife Darlene Lassitter Vanta; his children, Adrienne "Dree" Cross (Billy), Elbert Stewart (Christina), Christa Bourque (Crystal), Carol Ellis Smith (Ronnie), Ervin Vanta, Jr., Jennifer and Candis Vanta; his sister Beth McClusky (Johnny); and his grandchildren, Thomas, Tristan, Emily, Serenity, Gracie, Heaven, Kylie, Cheyenne, Gracyn, Abbi, Lilly, Ervin Lee, III and Damien.
