He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Lucille Thompson; his child Rance Allen Thompson; his parents, Mickey Lee Thompson and Mattie Jay Sones Thompson; and his sister Christine Bradford.

He is survived by: his daughter Dianna Marie Thompson Barbe; his siblings, Earnestine Slie, Dorothy Adamson, Diane Riley, Mickey Leon Thompson, Barney Thompson and Kennith Thompson; his granddaughter Amanda Hotard; his stepgrandchildren, Mandy, David and Christopher; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alex, Audrey, Kaithlynn, Davie, Chris and Peyton.
