He was predeceased by: his parents, John Francis Scanlan Sr. and Armide "Sugar" Marques Crow; his son Scott John Scanlan; and his grandchildren, Mary Cundiff and André Simard.

He is survived by: his wife Corinne Jones Scanlan; his children, Suzette S. Weathers (David), Yvette Scanlan, Dwayne Lewis (Tammie) and Yvonne L. Cundiff (Bruce); his grandchildren, Corinne Cundiff, Ryan Weathers, Craig Cundiff (Carolina), Justin Weathers, Tiffany Gregory (Ron), Dwayne Lewis II, Joshua Miller, Donavan Lewis, Masyn Weathers, Nickolas Weathers and Danielle Simard; his great grandchildren, Miles, Alba, Naomi, Dawson and Brody; and his sister Madeline "Mimi" Landry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
