He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Patricia Ripp; his fathers, Raymond Gremillion and Emile C. Ripp, Sr.; his granddaughter Bailey Ripp; and his great grandchild Garrett April, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Cheri April (Alvin), Emile III (Mary), Steven (Lisa) and Mary Bilquist (Larry); his grandchildren, Brandy, Dustin, Garrett, Felicia, Ryan, Aaron, Sarah, Julia, Brett, Brandon and Brad; his great grandchildren, Gabby, Amelia, Roman and Ava; and his sister Clara Cinquemano.
