He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew J. O'Brien and Dorothea K. Thompson O'Brien; and his siblings, Timmy O'Brien and Gwen Cochran. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Nicosia Laurente O'Brien; his son Dennis Matthew O'Brien (Alice); his stepchildren, Andrew, Jake, Nikki Montelongo (Glenn) and Kelley Buras (Jason); his stepgrandchildren, Devyn, Brennan, Liam Montelongo, Chyler, Camden and Callyn Buras; his stepgreat-grandson Dominic Montelongo; and his siblings, Judy Dinet (Calvin), Mickie, Bobby (Shelly), Kenny (Cindy) and Pat O'Brien (Cindy). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date due to COVID-19.
