She was predeceased by: her parents, David Harvey Boyd and Bessie Jones Boyd; her husband James Robert Sumlin; and her sister Gloria Boyd McGuire of Corpus Christi, TX.. She is survived by: her children, Dianna Sumlin Stone (George) of Ruston, Carole Sumlin Sexton (Edison) of Baton Rouge and James Robert Sumlin Jr. of Richardson, TX; her grandchildren, Ashley Sexton Gordon (Chuck) of Baton Rouge, Melissa Sexton Gomez (Wade) of Baton Rouge, Lauren Stone Torrey (Scott) of Madison, MS, Andrew Sexton (Ashley) of Fulshear, TX and Suzanna Stone Reneau (James) of Sterlington; and her great grandchildren, Charles, Elizabeth, Christian, Sarah Gordon, Davis, Lawson, Wyatt, Walker Torrey, Olivia, Hannah Sexton, Ireland Bailey, Andrew, Everett Gomez, Adair and Jack Reneau.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her name to one of her favorite organizations, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
