He was predeceased by: his brothers, Darwin Shrell (Leora), Clyde Shrell (Gerry), Ed Shrell (Thelma) and Harry Shrell (Monique); his stepson-in-law Bruce McCall; and his great grandchild Walter Mark Cranford.
He is survived by: his children, Jim Shrell (Sharon), Donnie Shrell (Lori), Joey Shrell (Teri), Richard Shrell (Susan), Charlotte McCall, Gordon Evans (Belinda), Laura Muckleroy (Jeff) and Melba Campbell (Stephen); his wife Helen Knotts Evans; his grandchildren, Melanie Shrell, Mindy Townsend (Josh), Mandi McFarlain (Michael), Brant Shrell (Rachel), Dustin Shrell (Kelsey), Seth Shrell (Holly), Chad Winborne (Erin), Lori Winborne, Traci Winborne, Haley Shrell (Tyler Ward), Hanna Shrell and Hope Shrell; and also, Nicholas Wilhite (Taylor), Frank Heinz (Angie), Bryan Evans (Jo), Heather Hawkins (Timmy), Claire Justus (Brandon), Anne Cranford (Colton), Paul Muckleroy (Heather), Brayden, Brody Otwell, Madison Kate Townsend, Maeve, Miller McFarlain, Ryan Ecker, Luke, Ava Shrell, Kay Lynn, Lillian Shrell, Hudson, Hunter Bo, Hadleigh Shrell, Milliann Winborne, Will Evans, Jamey Evans, Jordan Hawkins, John Charles, Jillian, Jericho Justus, August, Martin and Benjamin Cranford.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Temple Baptist Church (1515 S Service Rd W, Ruston, LA 71270). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery (515 Everett St, Ruston, LA 71270).
