She was predeceased by: her father Richard E. Schmidt; her brother Eddie Schmidt; and her sister-in-law Anne Ellzey (Jerry). She is survived by: her husband Bert Newton; her daughter Natalie Newton; her grandson Zander Monteleone; her mother Jean Schmidt; her sisters, Betty Robinson (Joseph), Gail Hearn (Nelson) and Joan Stamps (Tim); and her close friends, Melissa Dyson and Samuel Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
