He is survived by: his wife Glenda Bates of Ringgold, LA; his son Eric Bates of Cincinnati, OH; his grandson Sma (Henry Bates); and his siblings, Huey Bates, Billy Bates (Diana), Mattie Lou Thomas and Maxine Ursell (Burl Young). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
