He was predeceased by: his son Gerald Wayne Barnett, Jr.; his parents, B. W. Barnett and Blanche Barnett; his brothers, Bobby Barnett and Arthur "Butch" Barnett; and his siblings-in-law, Glenda Morris and Sonny Moody.
He is survived by: his wife Kitty Barnett of Rayville; his sons, Travis Barnett (Tracey) of Rayville and Cody Barnett of Rayville; his grandchildren, Eli Barnett and Tori Barnett; his brother Ronald Barnett of Calhoun; and his sisters-in-law, Diane Smith, Dixie Stovall and Tammy Malone (Reggie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
