She was predeceased by: her parents, Naomi Dovielee and Pingree Newton Rhodes; her son Bernise Howard Jr.; and her granddaughter Carmen Baker. She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth Goodson (Charles), Violet Burgess (Tommy), Turner (Ray), Jake Swain, Jack Garner, Bernice Hebert (Andy), Mark Howard, Jerry Howard, Larry Howard, Chris Andy Howard and Tina Freeman (Paul). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
