He was predeceased by: his wife Bobbie J. Hinton; his parents, R. S. Hinton and Mattie Eva Hinton; and his siblings, Delmer Hinton, Levon Hinton, Carson Hinton, Louise Bridges and Earnestine Womack.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald Hinton (Shirleena) of Quitman, Kemp Hinton (Penny) of Quitman and Kathy Lowrey (Rickey, Barbara Lowrey); and his sister Lona Johnson of Quitman. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren.
