She was predeceased by: her husband John Ballard, Sr.; and her siblings, Dessie Savell, Hatie Brown, Lessie Kirkland, Chester Stutts, Earl Stutts and Larry Stutts.
She is survived by: her children, Carla A. Matkin, Lisa L. Youman, Brenda L. Thomisee, Cecil W. Ballard, Lester G. Bynog and John F. Ballard, Jr.; her brother Jessie Stutts; and her grandchildren, Larry Wayne, Andy, Kristen, Kathryn, Joshua, Hannah, Isaac, Stacey, Derek, Courtney, Lee, Lesley, Tracey, Stephen and Reuben. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
