He is survived by: his wife Christine Shander Smith of Prairieville, Louisiana; his children, Stephanie Smith Cooper (Thomas) of Richton, Shawn Smith (Brittany) of Seminary, Jade Smith of Mize, Scott Smith (Recinda) of Seminary, Chase Smith (Lauren) of Hattiesburg and Sabrina Smith of Burlington; and his siblings, Kathleen Jackson of Seminary, Janie Rowell of Seminary, Carolyn Williams of Laurel, Margaret Mundell of Baton Rouge, Sue Hartfield of Petal and Barney Smith of Punta. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
