He was predeceased by: his sons, Joe Stafford and Jesse Stafford; his granddaughters, Rachael Stafford Thomassee and Krissy Stafford Littrell; and his sister Norma McNeil.

He is survived by: his significant other Mary Ann; his grandsons, Thomas Stafford Jr., Kyle Stafford and Matt Stafford Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Bailey Stafford, Kobe Stafford and Mathew Stafford III.
