He was predeceased by: his wife Theresa T. Bertrand; his parents, Elive Smith Bertrand Ryder and Joseph Felix Bertrand; his siblings, Richard Wayne Bertrand, Joseph Marion Bertrand and Lurline Phurn Bertrand; and his siblings-in-law, Joseph Raymond Morris, Paul Sylvan Fontenot and Branda Bertrand.
He is survived by: his children, Janet L. Bertrand and John W. Bertrand, Jr. of Opelousas; his grandchildren, John G. Bertrand of Port Barre, Kristin M. Bertrand (Eric) of Opelousas and Matthew I. Bertrand (Jane) of Opelousas; his great grandchildren, Wyatt K. Chautin, Kallen G. Chautin and Lilia G. Bertrand; and his sisters, Dora B. Morris of Denham Springs and Ethel Marie Fogleman (Fred) of Bunkie.
