He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Merritt and Kay Davis; his daughter Jessica Morford; and his brother David Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Melvina Merritt; his children, Nicole Ann Merritt, Chanelle Williams, Ricky Dale Merritt, Jr. and Kyle Claiborne; and his sisters, Charla Jaurreau (Jody) and Tammy Hernadez (Gust). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
