She was predeceased by: her husband Donald James Hurst Sr.; her parents, Dunbar Magruder and Rena Pourciau Magruder; her siblings, Frances Rose Magruder, Grace Magruder Bechtold, Katherine Magruder Hill Rabalais, L. D. and Neil Magruder; her son-in-law Rev. Jim Shortess; and her granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Shortess.
She is survived by: her children, Donald Hurst (Violet) of Baton Rouge, Elizabeth Hurst Shortess of Baton Rouge, Peter C. Hurst (Robin) of Port Allen, Christopher S. Hurst (Yvette) of Port Allen and William B. Hurst of Port Allen; and her grandsons, Ryan, Joshua, Zackary (Dylan Hurst) and Stephen (Samuel Shortess). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren;8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
