He was predeceased by: his daughter Nicole Pinion; his parents, Levonia Pinion Crane and Mervin Pinion; and his granddaughter Hollie Ann Gill. He is survived by: his sons, James F. Pinion (Amanda), Jean, Paul Pinion and Brandon Stephen Cutrer Recotta (Nicole); his stepdaughter Colleen Everett (Aaron); his siblings, Debra Richardson and Kerry Pinion; and his grandchildren, John Beale, Steven Gill, Phoebe Pinion, Willow Pinion, James Pinion, Sandra Pinion, Laken Pinion, Charlotte, Evie and Rosie Everett.
