He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell E. Neel, Sr. and Lorien Ezell Knox; and his stepfather Kenneth Knox. He is survived by: his wife Mary Harrell Neel; his children, Russell E. "Rusty" Neel, III and Lorien Neel Sterling (Scott Sterling); his grandchildren, Shelby Sterling, Shaylee Sterling, Jaden Sterling and Saydie Sterling; and his aunt Betty Neel Whitledge. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
