He was predeceased by: his parents, John V. Hoover, Sr. and Edith Hoover; and his daughter Carolyn Hoover. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Alvaro Hoover; his children, John V. Hoover, III (Tammy) and Kayla Jane Hoover; his granddaughter Emily Hoover; his sister Patricia Charbonnet; and his pet Hoss Hoover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to North Oaks Hospice (PO Box 2668 Hammond, LA 70404) or his favorite charity, the Louisiana SPCA.
