He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton S. Byers and Dallie Lenel Byers; and his siblings, Clarence, Ivan, Lee, Amos, Emery Byers and Vilere B. Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Newman Byers; his son Justin W. Byers; his granddaughters, Haley and Grace Byers; and his great grandchild Avery Byers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
