He was predeceased by: his wife Corrine McLain Hesse; his daughter Cheryl Lynn "Sherry Popper" Hesse; his parents, Ernest Hesse and Anna Hesse; and his siblings, Raymond Hesse, Orville Hesse, Gertrude Hesse and Irene Hesse.
He is survived by: his daughter Cyndie Hempel (Chris) of Austin, Texas; his brother Art Hesse of Minnesota; and his stepchildren, Henry Clair (Sue) of Lake Charles, Mark Clair (Cathy) of Little River, William Clair of Pollock and Mary Frazier (Bill) of Pineville. He is also survived by twelve step-grandchildren; seventeen step-great grandchildren; and three step-great-great grandchildren.
