He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Mercer and Mildred Mercer; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Bessie Powell; his siblings, Lavalle Mercer (EllaVee) and Mary Alice Price (Bo); and his pet Rufus.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Powell Mercer (Pollock); his children, James Brent Mercer (Pollock) and Renee Mercer Wells (Timothy Wells); his siblings, Virginia Dupree (Jimmy), Dub Mercer (Donna) of Wimberly, TX and Roger Mercer (Nita); his grandchildren, Justin Wells (Misty), Jacob Wells (Jordan), Marlon Winters (Amber), Jessie Winters (Lexis), Michael Morris (Colfax) and Sara Morris (Colfax); his great grandchildren, Carter Youngblood, Mavis Wells, Meredith Wells, Charlie Wells, James LaPrairie, Analeigh Wells, Sophia Winters, Shawn LaPrairie, Luke Winters, Cooper Winters and Kade Winters; his pets, Roscoe, RJ and Rascal; and his grandchildren, LeaAnne Youngblood and Kaylynn Laprairie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
