He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ortego and Angela Ortego; his siblings, Helen St. Romain, Naydee Ducote, Ledell Rabalais and Leeward Ortego; and his daughter Janelle Ortego.
He is survived by: his wife Nola Lacour Ortego; his children, Marilyn Dufrene (Gary), Cathy Vienne (David), Donna Keller (Julian), Richele Jenkins (Mike), Richard Ortego, Jr. (Cherie) and Rhonda Anchissi (Jorge); his grandchildren, Frankie, Pepper (Justin), Ashley, Taylor (Alexis), Lindsey (Brison), Scott, Haley, Michael, Katie and Kelley; and his great grandchildren, Madison, Kellan and Robin.
