He was predeceased by: his parents, Windom Babin and Elise Curry Babin. He is survived by: his brother-in-law Earl Crochet; his wife Brenda Mire Babin of Plaquemine; his daughter Allison; his son-in-law Dale Montgomery of Bossier City; his sisters, Jerline Hebert, Delores LeBlanc and Carol "Cookie" Landaiche (Tommy); and his parents-in-law, Judy Bartet, Conrad "Peedy", Alice Mire, Linda "Chune" and Earl Crochet. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery Fund.

“In loving memory of James Babin, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. We took liking to Mr. Babin a few years ago. We would talk to him everytime we walked our neighborhood for exercise. He would always jokingly encourage us to pick up the pace and we laughed. Mr. Babin was always outside doing a project with wood. He stopped us one day and gifted us with wooden ink pens. He made me a wooden mirror. He was truly an Earth Angel. We will definitely miss him.”
