She was predeceased by: her husband John W. Ruiz; her parents, Anthony Palermo and Frances Cashiola Palermo; her sisters, Daisy King and Lena Brooks; her sisters-in-law, Gladys "Butsy" Palermo and Theresa Ruiz Morales; her brothers, Peter A. Palermo, Vincent "Torpedo" Palermo and Joseph "Baby" Palermo; and her brothers-in-law, Daniel King, Lindon "Noonie" Rivet, Raymond Ruiz and Joseph Ruiz.
She is survived by: her daughter Johnette; her son-in-law Ronald "Shotgun" Gourgues; her son John Jr.; her daughter-in-law Vera Ruiz; her sister Fannie Rivet; her siblings-in-law, Charles "Sleepy" Brooks of Lafayette, Laura Palermo, Barbara Palermo and Meredith Ruiz of Missouri; her grandchildren, Lee Ann Richard (Ronald "Peanut"), Joni Courtade (Shannon), Rachel Ruiz and John W. Ruiz III; and her great grandchildren, Blake Ruiz, Mya Pitre, Chandler Courtade, Caden Courtade and Caroline Ruiz.
