He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonathan Jackson-Rawls and Picola Jackson-Rawls; his wife Valerie Hughes; and his siblings, Lula, Belvie, Christine, Herbert and Earl.

He is survived by: his children, Salena Brown Brumfield (Marshell), Shareda Hope Rawls, Catrell Rawls and Sterling Horton; and his brothers, Richard Rawls (Shirley) and Clyde Rawls (Sharon). He is also survived by five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
