He was predeceased by: his wife Sally Ann Welch Atkins; his parents, Dennis Denvil Atkins and Lily Mavis Atkins (Black); his brother Charles; his sister-in-law Pat Atkins; and his sisters, Betty Jean Deloach and Merle Atkins.
He is survived by: his son Howard Earl "Buddy" Atkins, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Teresa Atkins of Darnell, Louisiana; his daughters, Karen Ann Atkins of Darnell, Louisiana and Ramona; his son-in-law Michael Pace of Vicksburg, Mississippi; his brother Donald J.; his sister-in-law Celia Atkins of Arcadia, Louisiana; and his sisters, Nell Calvert of Alexandria, Louisiana, Helen Atkins of Alexandria, Louisiana and Brenda Henson of Oak Grove, Louisiana.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brother.
